ENCORA is based on National Coastal Networks, which fulfil a coordinating role at the national level. In all participating European countries National Networks have been established.

Strengthening national coordination is one of the ENCORA objectives. The National Networks are managed by coordinating institutes with strong networking capabilities.
Each National Network within ENCORA includes coastal research institutions, practitioner and policy organizations, universities, consultants and other private companies involved in Integrated Coastal Zone Management.
National Coordination Office (NCO)
Each national network has a National Coordination Office. The first task of the NCO is to ensure, stimulate and facilitate the process of knowledge exchange and cooperation between network participants at the national level; the means to fulfil this task are supplied by the coordinating institute and the national member institutes. The second task of NCO’s is to ensure, stimulate and facilitate the process of knowledge exchange and cooperation between network participants Europe-wide.
